چکیده

The sphenoid sinuses (SS) are pneumatic spaces located in the diaphysis of bone. morphology SS is characterized by great diversity. One such being presence septa; which may vary number and be complete or incomplete. In present study, we investigated: total septa whether there a relationship between septation, symmetry nasal septal deviation (SD) using multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) adults from thestate Para Ceara. A retrospective cross-sectional study was carried out with images patients who did not any pathology SSs ages 18-49 years. 121 were evaluated (59 females 62 males) axial plane ITK-SNAP software version 3.6.0. Results recorded age gender revealed that both males (100%) (98.3%%); detected as having at least one septum. SD 45.5% asymmetry 77.7%. conclusion verified diversity anatomical variations considerable; therefore, its tomographic evaluation aid surgical planning forensic identification, however more specific studies within different populations necessary.

Anatomic variations of sphenoid sinus from Cone Beam Computed Tomography images in the Iranian population

Aims: Sphenoid sinus is one of the most inaccessible paranasal sinus, and is closely correlated to many vascular and neural structures. Anatomic variation of the sphenoid sinus can complicate surgery in this area. The aim of the present investigation was to define the sphenoid sinus variations and the relevant structures using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Methods: This cross-sectiona...

Acoustic rhinometry and computed tomography scans for the diagnosis of nasal septal deviation, with clinical correlation.

OBJECTIVE The aim in this study was to analyze the efficiency and reliability of acoustic rhinometry (AR) readings in recognition of nasal septal deviation. METHOD We compared 24 patients' AR readings with their sinus CT scans. The patient data were analyzed by comparison with normative data, area, and percentage differences between the two sides. Additionally, the data further analyzed by re...

Comparison of Sinonasal Symptoms in Patients with Nasal Septal Deviation and Patients with Chronic Rhinosinusitis

Introduction: Disorders of the nose and paranasal sinuses are among the most common chronic illnesses. Although considerable progress has been made in the medical and surgical control of these diseases, a large number of questions relating to the diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of these conditions remain unanswered. The aim of the present study was to evaluate differences in the frequency ...

Validation of computed tomography-based attenuation correction of deviation between theoretical and actual values for four computed tomography scanners

Objective: In this study, we aimed to validate the accuracy of computed tomography-based attenuation correction (CTAC) using the bilinear scaling method. Methods: The measured attenuation coefficient (μm) was compared to a theoretical attenuation coefficient (μt ) using four different CT scanners and an RMI 467 phantom. The effective energy of the CT beam X-rays was calculated, using the aluminu...

Assessment of sphenoid sinus related anatomic variations with computed tomography

INTRODUCTION Frequent and broad application of endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) in parallel with experience makes it imperative to know the anatomy and the existing pathology very well before surgery. This study examines the association between anomalies in the sphenoid sinus area in paranasal sinuses computed tomography (PNS-CT) and pathological findings and determines variations of sphenoid sin...
